NFL Power rankings after Week Six

Big Country's early look at the Week Six NFL Power Rankings

NFL Week Six in a nutshell.

The Chicago Bears continue to win football games behind their dominant defense. The New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons pick up their first wins and the New York Jets still suck.

Philly lost a close game to Baltimore as Carson Wentz did all he could to lead them back. A horrendous play call was made for the two-point conversion to tie it and the Eagles go home with broken hearts and more injured starters. Call any other play but that one that next time, Doug. *eye-roll*

The Kansas City Chiefs have shown the ability to be a pass or run team when needed and they just added Le’Veon Bell. Arizona has also proven to be a dangerous team when everything is clicking and could very well make a run this season.

What makes the NFL so intriguing is the fact that you have absolutely no idea what’s going to happen from week to week. The Green Bay Packers get shut down and the Cleveland Browns completely fell apart as they both get blown out.

BOLD STATEMENTS

Derrick Henry belongs in the MVP discussion.

The Pittsburgh Steelers should call the Jets right now and offer their first-round draft pick for Sam Darnold. They won’t need it anyway because they are a complete team that’s loaded with studs. This allows them to keep rolling when Big Ben retires.

The Philadelphia Eagles will win the NFC East because the Dallas Cowboys stink.

Below are my NFL Power Rankings after Week Six.

32. NEW YORK JETS (0-6) — LAST WEEK 32

Fire Adam Gase.

31. WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM (1-5) — LAST WEEK 30

Washington should stick with Allen at quarterback for the rest of the year. He put them in a position to win this game, but they decided to go for two and lost it. It’s going to be a long season for them no matter who is at quarterback.

30. NEW YORK GIANTS (1-5) — LAST WEEK 31

It was a close game but the New York Giants finally picked up their first win in 2020! Thanks to their defense for stopping the two-point conversion play. If they can find ways to build off of this win the Giants could find themselves competing for the division. I’m kind of joking.

29. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (1-5) — LAST WEEK 28

Turnovers and missed field goals was the story this week for Jacksonville. It looks like it will be a tight race for Trevor Lawrence as the New York Jets have yet to win a game.

28.  CINCINNATI BENGALS (1-4-1) — LAST WEEK 27

The missed field goal and lack of protection for Joe Burrow cost the Bengals this game. They were so close to getting the win but things weren’t going their way. They are a young team and these types of losses are bound to happen. On to the next one!

27.  MINNESOTA VIKINGS (1-5) — LAST WEEK 20

The Minnesota Vikings missed Dalvin Cook this week. The problem is, I’m not sure how much of a difference it would have made. The defense couldn’t stop anything and Kirk Cousins likes throwing to the other team. I was starting to think the Vikings had figured it out after their win last week but instead, they took one step forward and then fell off a cliff.

26. ATLANTA FALCONS (1-5) — LAST WEEK 29

Well, holy smokes they did it. All it took was Dan Quinn being fired and the return of Julio Jones for the Atlanta Falcons to find some life. They pick up their first win of the season and do so by blowing out the Minnesota Vikings.

25.  HOUSTON TEXANS (1-5) — LAST WEEK 21

Talk about a nail biter. The Houston Texans fought to keep themselves in this game but did not have an answer for the Tennessee Titans offense. The Texans defense wanted no part in tackling Derrick Henry and that is the reason they lost this game in overtime.

24.  DETROIT LIONS (2-3) — LAST WEEK 26

D’Andre Swift led the way for Detroit this week as he had all kinds of success running the ball against Jacksonville. The Lions offense is so much better when Kenny Golladay is playing and the Lions pick up their second win of the season.

23. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (1-4-1) — LAST WEEK 19

The Philadelphia Eagles can’t stay healthy. It’s unbelievable how many players they have out and now Zach Ertz and Miles Sanders are getting MRIs for their knee injuries. They were so close to putting themselves in a position to win on Sunday and it came down to the two-point conversion play.

The crazy part is that the Eagles are still in a position to possibly win their division.

22. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (1-4) — LAST WEEK 22

On a bye. Will not change place in rankings.

21. DENVER BRONCOS (2-3) — LAST WEEK 25

The Denver Broncos got a close win today and it was thanks to their defense. Drew Lock played well up until the end where he threw back to back interceptions. Other than that, it was nice to see him back on the field slinging it.

20. DALLAS COWBOYS (2-4) — LAST WEEK 15

Is the NFC East this bad or just this unlucky? The Dallas Cowboys did not look like they wanted to play football on Monday night. It was just undisciplined football all night. The offensive line couldn’t block, the fumbles, missed field goals and lack of defense is just unbelievable. They need to figure it out and do so fast because they do not look like a team that can win the East.

19. MIAMI DOLPHINS (3-3) — LAST WEEK 24

The Miami Dolphins are on a winning streak right now and blanked the New York Jets. Miami also got to see Tua Tagovailoa for the first time. It was awesome to see him back on the field and competing in an actual game. The Dolphins are quietly sitting in second place in their division.

18. CAROLINA PANTHERS (3-3) — LAST WEEK 17

Turnovers cost the Carolina Panthers this game. Teddy Bridgewater was running for his life and at times was forcing the ball into tight windows. He did have some great throws downfield, but it just wasn’t enough this week. The Panthers face New Orleans next week and they just might have Christian McCaffrey joining them.

17. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (3-3) — LAST WEEK 23

The Jimmy G era has returned. The 49ers offense was clicking Sunday night and the defense was disrupting the Rams offense all night. The 49ers pick up a big division win and will look to keep building off their primetime performance next week.

16. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (4-2) — LAST WEEK 18

The Colts nearly lost this week but end up finding themselves back in the win column The offense is rolling and had nearly everyone in the mix on Sunday. The Colts roll into their bye before facing the Detroit Lions.

15. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS  (2-3) — LAST WEEK 12

This is the first time the New England Patriots have had a losing record at this point in the season since 2002. The offense struggled to get anything going this week as Cam Newton didn’t have much time to throw the ball. He was sacked four times and ended the game with two interceptions. The Patriots’ new style of play is not set up to recover from turnovers. They will struggle to win if they are relying on passing their way back into games.

14.  LAS VEGAS RAIDERS (3-2) — LAST WEEK 14

On a bye. Will not change place in rankings.

13.  CLEVELAND BROWNS (4-2) — LAST WEEK 9

Oof. I bet they would like to have that game back. Baker Mayfield adds another two interceptions to his resume and the Browns get blasted in Pittsburgh. They could not get anything going on offense and the defense didn’t stand a chance in slowing down the Steelers. The Browns need to just completely forget this game and look forward to the next one in Cincinnati.

12. BUFFALO BILLS (4-2) — LAST WEEK 8

Two tough losses have hurt the Bills in terms of standings. The Chiefs ran all over this defense and the Titans had their way with them as well. They are still good, but man this is a tough stretch of games for Josh Allen and the Bills. Hopefully, they can find a way to bounce back soon.

 11. ARIZONA CARDINALS (4-2) — LAST WEEK 13

Well, Kyler Murray is still really fast and Kenyan Drake finally had the game we have all been waiting for. This defense swarms to the ball and didn’t appear to miss a beat with the loss of Chandler Jones. This team is dangerous.

10. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (3-2) — LAST WEEK 10

On a bye. Will not change place in rankings.

Titans' Derrick Henry in historic company after Week 6 performance

9. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (4-2) — LAST WEEK 11

Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just sent out a message to the rest of the league. The defense is full of speed and the offense is clicking. They are a complete team that can flat out ball. Lookout.

8. CHICAGO BEARS (5-1) — LAST WEEK 15

The Bears’ defense is real. Nick Foles is just good enough and David Montgomery was eating this week. The Bears are surprisingly playing very well and find themselves in first place in their division. I. am. Shocked. The Chicago Bears are a top 10 team.

7. LOS ANGELES RAMS (4-2) — LAST WEEK 6

The Rams looked all out of sorts on Sunday night. The offense was not able to get in a rhythm and by the time they did, it was too late. Defensively they struggled to stop the run and the 49ers play-action kept them guessing. They have another big game next week as they face the Chicago Bears, so the offense needs to find a way to get back on track this week.

6. GREEN BAY PACKERS (4-1) — LAST WEEK 4

Just an embarrassing game for the Green Bay Packers. As a complete team, they got punched straight in the mouth and didn’t have an answer. This was a really bad “off game” so no need to start panicking if you are a cheese head. The Packers face the Houston Texans next, so the offense should have something to be excited for. As for the Texans, a pissed off Aaron Rodgers should have them shaking in their boots.

5. TENNESSEE TITANS (5-0) — LAST WEEK 9

Oh my God, Derrick Henry. The man cannot be stopped. It’s just not fair that he can be that big, strong, and fast. The man is putting himself in the MVP discussion with how well he has played the last two weeks. The Tennessee Titans defense is pretty good too. The Titans are good — like really good.

4. BALTIMORE RAVENS (5-1) — LAST WEEK 3

The Ravens can thank their defense for that win on Sunday. They came through at the right moment to stop Carson Wentz and the Eagles from tying the game. Baltimore will get some time to line out any kinks as they head into the bye week.

3. PITTSBURGH STEELERS (5-0) — LAST WEEK 5

This is the hottest team in the NFL right now. The Steelers have so much talent on this team it’s not even funny. The offense is capable of doing anything they want at any time. Big Ben has so many receiving weapons and the running game hasn’t been stopped yet. The defense is playing on another level right now as they continue to destroy opposing offenses.

2. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (5-1) — LAST WEEK 2

The Kansas City Chiefs are a running team now? Well, they were on Monday night as they ran all over the Buffalo Bills. This team has shown they dominate you by passing or running the ball when need be. Also, don’t forget the strength of their defense too as they can get to the quarterback and create turnovers.

1. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (5-0) — LAST WEEK 1

On a bye. Will not change place in rankings.
