NFL Power Rankings

Early Look into the week 3 NFL Power Rankings

An early look into the NFL Power Rankings before the Monday night game

32. NEW YORK JETS (0-3) — LAST WEEK 32

Another week and another loss for the New York Jets. Let me know when things get better.

31. NEW YORK GIANTS (0-3) — LAST WEEK 31

Even against a damaged San Francisco defense, the New York Giants can’t get anything going on offense. Daniel Jones had another fumble and continues to struggle behind this offensive line. The defense wasn’t any better as they could not stop a weakened 49ers offense. Literally, they did not stop them once. The 49ers never punted this game.

30. WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM (1-2) — LAST WEEK 27

Dwayne Haskins would like to have this game back. He was under constant pressure which resulted in a lost fumble and three interceptions. The defense was unable to stop the running game of the Cleveland Browns. All in all, it was a poor performance for the Washington football team. Things are not going to get any easier either as their next two games are against the Baltimore Ravens and the Los Angeles Rams.

29. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (1-2) — LAST WEEK 24

The Jaguars could not get their offense in a rhythm on Thursday night and Gardner Minshew was sacked four times. The defense was unable to slow down the Miami Dolphins and got blown out on a short week. The Jaguars are a young team, sloppy games are going to happen but it will be interesting to see how they respond next week against the Houston Texans.

28. DENVER BRONCOS (0-3) — LAST WEEK 23

Denver did not really have a chance in this game without their starting quarterback Drew Lock and number one receiver Courtland Sutton who is out for the year with a torn ACL. The Broncos defense struggled to slow down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense, but who can blame them with Tom Brady spreading the ball around the way he did on Sunday. This sucks to say, but this year is basically over for the Denver Broncos.

27. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (0-2-1) — LAST WEEK 25

What is going on in Philadelphia? Carson Wentz is all over the place. The offense is banged up and the offensive line can’t block, but in saying that, Wentz is missing throws. Maybe the beating he has taken the last couple of weeks is taking its toll, but damn it’s hard to watch. They were lucky to even get a tie in this game with the way their offense played. The defense was able to sack Joe Burrow eight times, but it still wasn’t enough.

Bridgewater outplays Herbert as Panthers survive Chargers | Charlotte Observer

26. CAROLINA PANTHERS (1-2) — LAST WEEK 29

Teddy Bridgewater played a smooth game of football on Sunday with only six incompletions. The Panthers had four receivers get over 40-yards receiving. They will be forced to spread the ball around and have all of their playmakers involved now that Christian McCaffrey is out due to an injury. The Panthers defense stepped up this game and created turnovers as they had an interception and recovered three fumbles.

25. CINCINNATI BENGALS (0-2-1) — LAST WEEK 26

Joe Burrow was sacked eight times and came back from multiple big hits. Serious questions. Do the Bengals want him to finish the year? He continued to sling the ball downfield even though his offensive line struggled to block. The defense stepped up and snagged two interceptions as they did their part in slowing down a beat-up Philadelphia Eagles offense. Yes, it was a tie, but the tie is more positive for the Bengals than it is for the Eagles.

24. MIAMI DOLPHINS (1-2) — LAST WEEK 28

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw two touchdowns and rushed for another with only two incompletions on Thursday night. The Dolphins played better at nearly every level and controlled the game from start to finish. Now they can roll into their bye week and prepare for the Seattle Seahawks.

23. DETROIT LIONS (1-2) — LAST WEEK 30

The Detroit Lions won and did so off the plays made by their defense. Last week I questioned Matt Patricia’s defense, this week they led the way with three interceptions. Adrian Peterson was the teams leading rusher this game and having Kenny Golladay back was a big help to the flow of the offense. This is a win the Lions and Matt Patricia desperately needed.

22. ATLANTA FALCONS (0-3) — LAST WEEK 20

There is no way Dan Quinn finishes the year as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. The Chicago Bears switched quarterbacks and then came back to win. Matt Ryan ended their possible comeback with an interception and they walked off the field with a loss for the third week in a row. How can a team have an offense this good with such an awful defense?

21. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (1-2) — LAST WEEK 18

Justin Herbert’s second career start did not go as well this week as the team hurt themselves by turning the ball over. Herbert had an interception and a fumble himself. The Chargers can move on from this game knowing they beat themselves and focus on the little things as they prepare for their next game.

20. MINNESOTA VIKINGS (0-3) — LAST WEEK 22

Holy smokes the Minnesota Vikings do have an offense that can score! It took a couple of weeks but the Vikings offense had huge performances from Dalvin Cook and rookie wide receiver, Justin Jefferson. It’s disappointing they came up short but the Minnesota Vikings played their best game of the year so far.

Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 3: What to do with Deshaun Watson vs. Steelers - DraftKings Nation

19. HOUSTON TEXANS (0-3) — LAST WEEK 15

Houston, we have a problem. Several of them. Deshaun Watson has no time. The secondary is an issue and the Texans are 0-3. Is the seat for Bill O’Brien warming up yet?

18.  LAS VEGAS RAIDERS (2-1) — LAST WEEK 14

Las Vegas came into this week missing some key starters for their offense. Maxx Crosby ended the game with two sacks and is not getting the recognition he truly deserves. The storyline of this game is the fact they fumbled twice in the red zone and couldn’t stop the running attack of the New England Patriots.

17. CHICAGO BEARS (3-0) — LAST WEEK 21

The Mitchell Trubisky era in Chicago might officially be over after Sunday. It was a surprise for everyone and even Trubisky himself as he was pulled after an interception. Nick Foles comes in wearing a dark visor and leads the Bears to victory. The benching of Mitchell Trubisky will be all the talk this next week, so prepare yourselves.

16. CLEVELAND BROWNS (2-1) — LAST WEEK 19

Cleveland continues to roll with their one-two running back duo of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. The defense was creating turnovers while constantly being in the face of Dwayne Haskins who had a disappointing game with multiple interceptions and fumbles. The Browns are winning games they are supposed too, so do not expect much praise from me. Congrats to Baker Mayfield for making the right decisions and not turning the ball over.

15. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (2-1) — LAST WEEK 17

The Indianapolis Colts took care of business with the New York Jets. As they should have. Jonathan Taylor had a good game being the lead back, but they still went with the running back by committee game plan. The defense had two pick-sixes and was the reason for this blowout. They won this game with ease.

 14. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (2-1) — LAST WEEK 16

The 49ers stayed on the east coast this weekend playing in MetLife once again. The New York Giants are another team missing their star offensive player in Saquon Barkley, but many were still predicting the Giants to the win this game. The 49ers leave New York with two blow-out victories and are hoping to have their starting quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo and star tight end, George Kittle back next week.

13. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (1-2) — LAST WEEK 10

Drew Brees is struggling. Yes, he had a fantastic game statistically, but he is not able to get the ball downfield. He is turning into a real check down charlie and it’s hard to watch honestly. Alvin Kamara isn’t complaining though as he had 13 receptions for 139 yards, but this offense is definitely missing Michael Thomas.

12. ARIZONA CARDINALS (2-1) — LAST WEEK 8

Kyler Murray came back down to earth after Sunday’s performance against the Detroit Lions. He had three interceptions, which ultimately cost them the game as the Lions turned them into points. Kyler and the Arizona Cardinals have time to figure out the missed opportunities as they head into the bye week.

11. DALLAS COWBOYS (1-2) — LAST WEEK 9

Dak Prescott ending the game with an interception is tough, especially after they found their way back into the game and eventually took the lead. Their defense has become a real issue and the secondary is getting picked apart. The Cowboys offensive line is struggling at times too and leaving Dak to scramble for his life. Dallas needs to find a way to put together a complete game on both sides of the ball.

10. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS  (2-1) — LAST WEEK 13

Creating turnovers and successfully running the ball. That is the 2020 New England Patriots in a nutshell. They have been great at controlling the pace of the game by running the ball and creating turnovers on defense. I am still questioning how long they will be able to keep up this style of play though because at some point they might be forced to throw the entire game and won’t be able to control the clock.

Derrick Henry rushes for 2 TDs in Titans' comeback win over Vikings

9. TENNESSEE TITANS (3-0) — LAST WEEK 12

It was a sloppy win for the Tennessee Titans, but a win is a win in the NFL. Stephen Gostkowski got back on track with a game-winning field goal after struggling to connect in Week One. The Titans are going to be playing in a lot of close games this season, they just have to continue to play mistake-free football.

8. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (2-1) — LAST WEEK 11

Tom Brady was back to being Tom Brady on Sunday as he was dropping dimes in Denver to go along with three touchdowns. The best part about this Buccaneers team is that you never know who is going to have a big game on offense. Last week it was Leonard Fournette and on Sunday it was Scotty Miller. The Bucs are starting to play like a complete team.

7.  LOS ANGELES RAMS (2-1) — LAST WEEK 6

The Rams were down 28-3 at one point. They made a comeback and took the lead, but Buffalo Bills ended up winning thanks to a very arguable defensive pass interference call. Jared Goff had a big second half, but it just didn’t end up being enough. The Rams are putting up points this year and their offense is playing great. They will be just fine after this loss.

Josh Allen outdoes Bills great Jim Kelly as Buffalo tops Rams - Los Angeles Times

6. BUFFALO BILLS (3-0) — LAST WEEK 7

Josh Allen is an MVP candidate. He had a monster first half with three touchdowns, then led the Bills back to win on a game-winning drive. Allen is budding into a superstar right in front of our eyes. He is so much more comfortable and confident this season and it shows in his play. If the Bills keep this up we could be discussing them as super bowl contenders.

5. PITTSBURGH STEELERS (3-0) — LAST WEEK 5

It was a complete team win for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. Big Ben had another good game, James Connor was running strong and Juju Smith-Schuster made another visit to the end-zone. The defense was creating consistent pressure on Deshaun Watson and the Texans all day. This team has a very good possibility of winning the AFC North.

4. GREEN BAY PACKERS (3-0) — LAST WEEK 4

Welcome, Aaron Rodgers to the MVP discussion. He has been playing on another level this season. The amount of offsides penalties Rodgers has created with his cadence this season is incredible. The Packers are getting huge wins on the road and a big part of it is fans not being allowed at games. The receivers for Green Bay are stepping up too as Allen Lazard had a career game with 146 receiving yards. The Green Bay Packers are rolling right now and boy is it fun to watch!

3. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (3-0) — LAST WEEK 3

If the season ended right now the MVP trophy would go to Russell Wilson. He just put together another great game with five passing touchdowns and currently leads the league with 14. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett each had a great game with over 100 receiving yards, but it was Lockett that led the way with three receiving touchdowns. The Seahawks defense struggled to slow down the Dallas Cowboys offense but created enough pressure at the end to force a turnover to seal the game. The Seahawks are rolling right now and it’s questionable on who will slow them down as they head into the bye week.

2. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (2-0) — LAST WEEK 2

Will be updated after Monday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

1. BALTIMORE RAVENS (2-0) — LAST WEEK 1
