Top three breakout contenders for the kansas City chiefs offense

The Chiefs offense is loaded once again, but who breaks out and surprises the Kingdom in 2020.

There is a gut feeling from Chiefs Kingdom that the team will someone break out this year on offense and surprise everyone. Several are mentioning rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire due to Damien Williams opting out for the season. But there are several other players on this roster that could break out and catch everyone by surprise this next season. Here are my picks.

Where Should You Draft Clyde Edwards-Helaire In Your Fantasy Draft?

Clyde Edwards-Helaire:

Duh. The Chiefs took the star running back out of LSU in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. With Williams opting out, the main guy will be CEH; both running and receiving. He has soft hands, good vision, and is very smart. CEH might be the first rookie to come into Andy Reid’s offense and say it was easy to learn the playbook. He should be in very serious consideration for Offensive Rookie of the Year—that’s how much potential he has to explode onto the scene.

Chiefs share 360-degree view of Demarcus Robinson TD catch | The Kansas City Star

Demarcus Robinson:

Patrick Mahomes will have plenty of options to choose from this year when throwing the football. The first highlight play from Mahomes’ rookie year was the preseason game against the Tennessee Titans. Mahomes was rolling to his right away from pressure, slings it downfield and hits Robinson deep near the sideline. They have had a connection since the beginning and this could be the year we really see it blossom. Robinson could have left in free agency but decided to come back on a one-year deal at another chance for a Super Bowl. This is a contract year for him now and as Terez Paylor says, “contract year is undefeated”. I agree with it because Robinson could have a monster year with Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill being the focus for defenses. Linebackers are going to have to watch CEH as well this year and that leaves Robinson room to eat. He made big plays last year with one-handed touchdown grabs or sacrificing his body to come down with the ball. This is the year that Robinson has an amazing season and is the true breakout player for the Chiefs offense.

Can Chiefs' Mecole Hardman show enough to earn more 2020 playing time? - Arrowhead Pride

Mecole Hardman:

It would be great to see second-year receiver Mecole Hardman break out this season but it’s difficult to see who he takes targets away from with Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson both being above him on the depth chart. I have him on this list because I think he can have more explosive plays in this offense than he did last year. As mentioned above, Mahomes has so many weapons to choose from. Hardman has already shown in his rookie year what he can do with the ball in his hands, so of course there is the possibility of him repeating those types of plays again this season. He is the final touch for the Legion of Zoom and when he’s on the field teams have to pick their poison because Hardman can burn you deep or if there is a slither of room, he’s gone.

The bottom line is that the Chiefs offense is better in 2020 than it was last year. This entire team is. There is a palpable feeling of excitement heading into the season that wasn’t there last year. Maybe that’s confidence coming off a Super Bowl winning season, but it’s also thanks to an offense loaded with weapons and a season of chemistry together led by the greatest quarterback on Earth.
